Can my orthodonist bill the invisalign as metal braces?

I went in for a consultation for invisalign and wanted to start. However, my dental insurance will only pay for metal braces. The orthodontist told me that they can bill it to the insurance company as metal braces so that I get the benefit. This didn’t seem right to me…Do orthodontists do this regularly?

How do you handle ppl who call the office and start yelling about a bill?

We never refuse to explain a bill, but a few patients have called and screamed bloody murder about some amount not paid by the insurance company and marked on the insurance statement (EOB-explanation of benefits) “Patient Responsibility” or “Insurance deductible.” The amount owed could be as little as $20 and over $100 (depends on the ins. co). This office is a dental office and I mean ppl shouting and not letting staff get one word in.

how often do wisdom teeth need to be removed? anybody ever had it done at a dental school?

i havent been to a dentist in like a year and when i was going to see dentists none of them seemed to think i really needed my wisdom teeth removed (and if they did none of them said anything). but now i think i might need to get them removed as the top 2 have been directly underneath the gums (no part of them is above the gums but i can feel them with my tongue and fingers) for a year or two and have been causing me pain about half of the time (which came back a few weeks ago after no pain for a while and it seems to be increasing every day – though its not constant pain which makes it a bit easier to deal with) since theyve been growing in (they first showed up around when i was 16 and now im 20) – meanwhile ive had no problems with my bottom one (i was told i only have 3). im still living at home and $ is extremely tight right now (we are making it by with not very much $ left after paying the bills) i have no dental insurance though i have medical insurance and i was thinking of getting some stuff (getting wisdom teeth and a tooth i have that hasnt had a filling in a long time removed) done at a dental school as i have heard they are cheap.
i mean like do they need to get removed most of the time when people get them? occasionally? rarely?

How hard is it to learn medical billing and coding on the job?

I’m currently unemployed and recently received an opportunity to work for a very nice pediatric dental office. It’s basically a front office administrative position which I’m sure I can handle. My concern is that a big part of the job includes billing and coding as well. My employer is aware that all I have is a medical terminology class under my belt but they insist that I should be able to learn it fairly easily, and I’ll be training with someone knowledgeable.I would love to learn it and get paid in the process, but I just don’t want to bite off more than I can chew…I’ve been trying to get into the medical field and it’s been impossible to catch a break without prior experience. Any tips or suggestions?

Is it cheaper to pay for braces out of pocket or get dental insurance?

I recently had a in office quote done for braces .Im on a fixed income and I was told $4500 for the braces .I have to have 5 extractions and xrays then molds done before the braces are put on .I asked the billing department and the lady kept throwing the price of the xray and molds ($300)at me . I can afford to pay about $100 a month so would it be cheaper to pay out of pocket straight to the dental office or get dental insurance and pay a co-pay when I visit the office plus the monthly fee to the insurance company ?I don’t wanna waste time and pay $300 for my molds and xrays then turn around and have 5 teeth removed and can’t afford to get my braces .I couldn’t get the lady to understand that it seem like she was so adamant on getting that $300 she could care less that I’d be possibly wasting my time and end up with missing teeth because I couldn’t afford the monthly payments .Please help I need the financial advise

Billing Medicaid/Medicare patients as a non-provider?

I work for a dental office that is not a provider for medicaid or medicare. The area we are located there are a lot of patients that have medicaid and medicare as a primary or secondary. They opt to pay cash since we do not accept their insurance. The last office I worked at we had the patient sign a waiver stating that they were aware we were not contracted with their insurance and they were responsible for services. We could bill them. Medicaid would call and ask us for proof that they signed a form at times. My question is the doctor at my current job doesn’t feel we need to have them sign a waiver. Yet I was under the assumption you had to have a patient with medicaid or medicare sign something stating they were aware we were not contracted for billing reasons. Does anyone have experience with this?? Please only helpful answers.

Are billing statements proper debt validation documents?

Hi,

A couple months ago, I had dental work done , which I paid for at the time of service. After that, I got a billing statement claiming I owed them even more money (more than what I initially agreed to pay for). I refused to pay this and my “debt” was sent to a collections agency, whom I received a letter from. I sent a letter requesting validation of the debt and received a letter back from the collections agency with the billing statement from the dentist office attached but no where does it show I ever agreed by signature to pay the amount listed.

What are my next steps?

I appreciate all the help you can give me!

Braces billing issues, help please?

So I have braces and my orthodontist and my parents had talked extensively before I got braces about the payment plan for that. My braces were to cost 4,995 dollars, so basically 5000 and my insurance covered 3000 as long as treatment began before my 19th birthday, so I got the braces on before I turned 19 and then my orthodontist only billed my insurance for getting the braces on, and the appointments that occurred before I was 19, which amounted to like, 1,000 and then sent my parents a bill for the extra 4,000 almost a year later because after I turned 19 there was nothing else covered, only as I said earlier they told my parents that they would bill for the entire amount covered by insurance prior to my 19th birthday and my parents had talked to the insurance company and they said my total benefit would be 3000 as long as treatment started and they were billed for the covered amount before I turned 19. So now I am almost 20, and supposed to be getting my braces off sometime either later this year or the beg. of next year. but my parents want me to just get the braces off now so we can just pay the amount accumulated so far, which I dont mind anyways because I think my teeth actually look 100 times better already and pretty much every other dentist besides my ortho said I really could get them off…but anyways now I have medicaid dental so is there any way that they can pay for some of my braces, like however much it would cost to finish treatment and get my retainers or is there some way to try and fix the billing so it can be paid for?

How much would it cost full price, to pay for a dentist bill,
for someone who hasnt been to one since 2005, and need to get teeth fixed(most likely fillings) and maybe a tooth or two pulled?
