Actually, you're right and I do agree.  I don't think I'd do any procedure without having a second opinion and maybe a third if it were major surgery.  You just can't be too careful.

The only harm to a second opinion is money, of course, but I have to agree with that again.  Hope the poster returns to give us an update.

Have you tried consulting another doctor yet? I advice you to do so, it is your wife we are talking about and having a second opinion can do no harm.

I suggest going to another specialist for a second opinion.  It is harmless to seek a second advice involving major operation.  If the transplantation affects the future mobility of the patient, then one must be extra careful before making a decision.

It really depends on the severity of the situation.  I don't think anyone here can really advise you.  Are there alternatives?  Certainly that is often the case, but not always.  Research carefully.

You have to consult your Rheumatologist regarding this because we don' t know the extent of it but if it is recommended already you must make ways. Even though the success of it is low you have to take the chance. It's you wife we're talking about.

My wife has been suffering from some acute pain in the right knee and the surgeon has prescribed for knee transplantation which involves huge amount of money in my place. Some friends have suggested me not to go for it as the success rate for such transplantation is low. I am at a fix. Do you suggest me to go for the operation?
