Thanks for all of the responses.  I'm pretty much in agreement.  When I had coverage, I tried to go twice a year as prescribed, but when coverage ended, I pretty only go when I have a problem, which is much too often.

I used to go for semi-annual dental visits because I could claim my dental expenses from my company. Since I left my company,  I only visit the dentist annually.  The dental charges are going up every year, it hurts to fork out the money myself.  Moreover,  I always have this feeling that the cleaning and polishing of my teeth can somewhat make the enamel layer thinner as time goes by.

When I find that I shall have to pay a visit to the dentist's chamber I feel an eeerie vibration in my wallet. It is a big spending. I need the visit usually once in a year if I do not find it necessary to meet my dentist more.

I use to visit my dentist annually to have my annual cleaning and all but if with in a year something bad happens to my teeth, I automatically set up a meeting with my dentist.

Do you have regular semi-annual or annual checkups from your dentist?  Do you go more often, or less often?  I'm just curious how often we all go see our friendly dentist.
