can my dentist call our patient’s previous dentist to ask for patient’s information without any request form, our patient just signed the usual HIPPA form that we give during their first visit and that’s all we have to have all authority to fax, email patients information with other dentist, medical doctors etc. Is that enough?
I read somewhere that we cannot fax nor email patient’s informations and xrays though. I need an answer ASAP. Thanks!
You must have permission from the patient to send or receive any information unless the patients life is in danger...see HIPAA rules for patient privacy.
