posted October 16, 2015 4:57 pm in reply to this is what the provider documented "NP exam, pano, NV refer to pedo for space loss, decay, high anxiety" and charged for D0150 and D0330. is this sufficient documentation? I'm fairly new to dental and just wanted to clarify.

I recently received a call from a local pharmacy stating we need to submit ICD-10 codes on the prescription as well. Please advise at the soonest. Thank you!

posted October 2, 2015 12:31 pm in reply to Can you explain how to appropriately use Z01.20 and Z01.21 as a replacement for V72.2. We do general dentistry. We have used V72.2(dental visit) for all of our visits. This code is straight forward if an dental exam and cleaning are being done. But, the confusing part is for different scenarios when a dental exam and cleaning are not being done. For example, patient presents for sealants only, an operative visit only, an extraction visit only, and stainless steel crowns. In all of these examples the patient is coming back to the office for work that is on their treatment plan, but an exam and cleaning are not being done as it says on the diagnosis code. Would Z01.20 & Z01.21 be appropriate to use in these situations? If not what would be an appropriate ICD 10 diagnosis code to use?

posted September 5, 2015 9:00 am in reply to We are reducing the ridge on the mandible for a patient before we place a future implant. We would normally use the D7950 code when doing a ridge augmentation; however, the current CDT code book lists the code D7950 as a procedure for ridge augmentation or reconstruction TO INCREASE THE HEIGHT. And we will be reducing the height. Is there a better code we should be using?? Thank you
