posted April 11, 2019 10:22 am in reply to We have a patient who was being seen for a problem. The dentist examined, took a PAX, and anesthetized the patient. He decided that a PAN was needed as well. When the assistant was taking the PAN the patient's tooth fell out. Per the provider, the tooth only fell out because the patient had be anesthetized. We are going to bill for the limited exam and x-rays, but not sure how or if to bill for the extraction. Would that be appropriate? If not, would it be appropriate to bill for D9110 or D9210?

posted April 8, 2019 1:48 pm in reply to When billing deep sedation what is the correct way to bill the units? Example start to stop time for deep sedation was 35 minutes. I have read different ways of figuring out the units. Anything over 1 minute would be considered another unit or anything over 5 minutes add another unit, and lastly anything over 8 minutes is considered another unit.

posted November 18, 2017 6:59 am in reply to My understanding of D9110 is the patient needs to initiate the appointment for it to be appropriate to code D9110. But, what if a patient is in for their D0120 and a tooth needs to be smoothed to relieve pain or sensitivity. Would it then be appropriate to use D9110 along with D0120?
