Can you bill for drugs on a dental form when moderate sedation is used
    Anonymous May 18, 2022 9:32 am
When you say "drugs" be more specific. Are you referring to other sedative medications? I cannot see why other medications would not be covered because moderation sedation was used. This may also be payer specific and/or plan specific. You might also want to document the reason for needing any additional medications (ie: patient was autistic (more)

Does ADCA require CE every year for people who have a CDC? If so, where I could get more information on it? Thank you
    Admin March 26, 2013 1:24 pm
Yes, you are required to maintain 12 CE's per year. You are also required to be a member in good standing to keep and maintain your CDC credential. You may find more information on our website under the CEU Center tab.

Is it ever appropriate to report two restoration codes for the same tooth on the same day?
Could reporting two restorations for the same tooth on different surfaces be considered unbundling? Anesthetic, rubber dams, review of radiographs, may be part of the “first” restoration

I work in a pediatric dental office, and my doctor also treats some of our pt's in an OR setting at the hospital when they require multiple fillings coupled with dental anxiety etc. I understand that doctor has to provide the hospital with an ICD-9 diagnosis code so they can properly bill medical insurance and I bill dental (using the D-codes unless able to bill medical first). My question concerns the CPT book. Am I correct in understanding that this book will come into play if I bill medical insurance only NOT dental using the 1500 form? How does this work in office as oppose to in treatment being done in the hospital? Thank you, -Shellea

CPT codes are only used when submitting claims to medical carriers on CMS 1500 forms, you do not use CPT codes for dental claims submitted to dental carriers on ADA2006 forms.

I wanted to know if you have a location where you share what documentation requirements are needed to support the billing of all new CDT 2014 codes. For example D0601-D0603?
    Admin June 18, 2014 11:39 am
No we do not have an area for documentation requirements, however, your question has been submitted to the advisory board for consideration.

This patient's insurance coverage is listed as "preventive/diagnostic only" - so what will that cover?
    Admin May 5, 2012 9:58 am
Usually this means exams,x-rays and cleanings only. However you should contact the carrier for specifics on what they consider to be included in "preventative & diagnostic " services.

can my dentist call our patient's previous dentist to ask for patient's information without any request form, our patient just signed the usual HIPPA form that we give during their first visit and that's all we have to have all authority to fax, email patients information with other dentist, medical doctors etc. Is that enough? I read somewhere that we cannot fax nor email patient's informations and xrays though. I need an answer ASAP. Thanks!
    Admin March 17, 2016 11:11 am
You must have permission from the patient to send or receive any information unless the patients life is in danger...see HIPAA rules for patient privacy.
