We are reducing the ridge on the mandible for a patient before we place a future implant. We would normally use the D7950 code when doing a ridge augmentation; however, the current CDT code book lists the code D7950 as a procedure for ridge augmentation or reconstruction TO INCREASE THE HEIGHT. And we will be reducing the height. Is there a better code we should be using?? Thank you
    Admin September 5, 2015 9:00 am
Since you are performing a ridge augmentation where you are reducing the ridge instead of increasing the ridge a more appropriate code would be D7999. Submit with a brief explanation in the remarks area of the ADA 2012 claim form and use the appropriate ICD-10-CM code as explanation.

How would I code for adjustments on 3 teeth that have large amalgam overhangs to remove - the teeth were filled in a different office.
    Admin August 6, 2015 7:32 am
The most appropriate code would be D2999 and submit a brief narrative in the remarks box as to what is being done and why.

Our practice has just started to use Silver Diamine Fluoride. Is there a CDT code for this? I have researched it and cannot find anything. Would we use D1208 or D1206 if not? Is it considered a fluoride application or a fluoride varnish?
    Admin July 18, 2015 7:07 am
It is considered a varnish and you would use CDT code D1206

A patient was seen and the doctor gave the Nitrous Oxide D9230 and also was able to give the a local anesthetic, but then the patient became uncooperative. The patient was then referred to a specialist. Can you bill for the D9230 alone where it was given and the procedure was attempted?
    Admin July 15, 2015 12:06 pm
Yes, you may bill for the N2O however you must have a brief explanation accompany the claim.

You can, however, depending on the carrier this may not be covered if D5130 is not delivered on the same day.

I AM AN ADCA MEMBER SINCE LAST APRIL, AND I'M TRYING TO BUY A CDBS CERTIFICATION EXAM BUT THE SITE IS ASKING ME FOR AN AFFILIATE ID AND COUPON CODE, WHICH I DON'T KNOW WERE TO FIND. CAN SOMEBODY HELP ME, PLEASE? SUZETE DE PINA
    Admin June 14, 2015 9:16 am
You do not need an affiliate ID number unless someone has referred you to the Association, the affiliate ID is to give that person credit. Coupon codes are for military discounts and are not needed unless you are military. You do not need to fill anything in these areas unless you are instructed to do (more)

I am looking at the ICD-10 diagnosis codes in preparation of the OCtober conversion. For diagnosis K08.10_, it specifies a class. What are those classes and how can I find documentation on them?
    Admin June 12, 2015 5:42 am
The AAPC and the BC Advantage are currently running ICD-10 training courses. The ADCA will not have an ICD-10 training course until January 2016.
