Can we bill for code D0470 along with code D7880 for a TMJ Appliance. Also if we are billing D09940 for an occlusal splint
    Admin July 12, 2016 1:34 pm
You may bill D0470 along with D7880 as long as the casts are for diagnostic purposes and not being used to create the device. D7880 includes splints and therefore D9940 would be considered inclusive of D7880.

Our office took a panorex xray for a patient for purposes of teeth extraction at the oral surgeon. The patient wants me to send the Panorex xray claim to medical insurance since it is related. What code do I use for the Panorex and what would be the diagnosis code I put on the 1500 form?
    Admin December 16, 2016 8:46 am
70355 the diagnosis code would depend on the findings example why are the extractions being performed...impacted teeth, decay, etc.

We have recently employed a pediatric dentist. We are having general dentists, outside of our practice, referring patient's to us for treatment. In these cases, the general dentist have already done the patient's exam/recall. Which code is the most appropriate to use when our pediatric dentist initially examines the patient? We are unsure on whether to use an exam code or a consultation code. Do we code differently if we do the patients treatment or if we cannot do the treatment and have to refer them out ourselves?
    Admin June 24, 2016 7:28 am
The most appropriate code for the pediatric dentist to use if the general dentist already used D0120, D0145, or D0150 would be D0160.

Is there a guideline for a dental provider on signing off on documentation when patient is seen? If patient is seen mutiple days, Can one documentation be used or does each day need to be initialed and/or signed by the dentist?
    Admin December 28, 2016 11:16 am
No, the provider must document clearly each day what was done and each day needs to be signed off on.
