In the state of PA, can a dental hygienist bill for D0180 when a dentist is not present? This is a bit "urgent", so I would appreciate any help or quick response. Thank you.
Admin May 28, 2016 3:03 am
No, this is not within the scope of practice for a dental hygienist. The dentist must be present and review the documentation as well as add to the documentation to make this a valid billable code.

Here is the situation: dr X saw patient Y for lower left quadrant scaling and root planing using mandibular block anesthesia. He then used an antibacterial gel in each sulcus. while the patient was in the office he reviewed the patient's progress on smoking cessation and went over the results of a biopsy done on a previous visit. how do i code that?
Admin April 30, 2016 11:22 am
Codes are as follows: Root planning and scaling will depend on how many teeth in the quadrant were scaled...you will either use D4341 for 4 or more teeth or D4342 one to three teeth. The anesthesia is included in this procedure and therefore has no code. D9610 will be used for the antibacterial gel D1320 (more)

If you need to do crowns on 22 & 27 for a partial denture, what's the best narrative?
Admin April 29, 2016 9:19 am
You must have the provider write a narrative based on the patient circumstance and documentation of "medical necessity" found in the patients chart.

I only have 3 more attempts before I am locked out. I have requested a new password and keep using what is sent and it's not working. My class starts today and I can't log in. I don't know if it's because I already had a membership with the ADCA and have a login. Do I use the same login as my members if so then how am I suppose to get to my class from there?
Admin April 12, 2016 7:40 am
Login to the members area and login to the classroom are completely separate, they are not the same and login to the classroom does not appear in your members area. Login information is given to you in a separate email from your instructor.

Can you please tell me if there's a ADA code for Removal Of Bone Espicule. Thank you.
John June 11, 2024 12:23 pm
Except that D7550 is removal of sloughed off bone due to infection and blood supply. The RVUs assigned to this for payment do not constitute removal of a simple bone spur.
