- High School Diploma or Equivalent
Description:
This course is geared toward the individual that has no dental billing and front office experience and is interested in learning the business side of dentistry.
This class is a 2 week on-demand interactive program. The course offers reading material, instructional videos, and quizzes to test your knowledge . There is no required time to login for class, it is on your own time at your convenience day or night. Instructors are available via phone during scheduled office hours or via email 24/7 to answer any questions you may have or assist you with any material you may be struggling with.
You may complete the course earlier than 2 weeks depending on your skill level and time put in. We understand some of you have time constraints and other obligations for this reason you will be given up to 12 months to complete the course in its entirety.
The following topics will be taught during the course:
Module 1– Explore what a Certified Dental Billing Specialist (CDBS) is and what obligations and commitments are required of a CDBS.
Module 2– Dental Anatomy and Terminology.
Module 3 & 4 – An in-depth look at insurance carriers (Insurance cards, Policy, Utilization Review Guidelines, Appeals process)
Module 5 & 6 – Coding Concepts (HIPAA, Risk Management, Obamacare)
Module 7 & 8 – Front office duties (Appointment scheduling, collection calls, co-payments, pre-authorizations, benefit determination)
Module 9- An in-depth look at CDT coding, proper documentation, code usage and assignment, Code pricing, how to use the CDT coding manual.
Module 10 - Treatment Planning, Case Presentation and Claim Submission
Module 11- Difference in Dental Software (EagleSoft and Dentirx)
Module 12– Certified Dental Billing Specialist (CDBS) examination.
This course DOES NOT include your CDT® coding manual.
